About 4th Wheel Social Impact

4th Wheel was founded in 2010 with an ambitious vision to strengthen social development programs. Over the years, we have worked with government entities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), social enterprises, and corporate foundations. These experiences have helped us understand the importance of strategic program design, robust implementation, performance monitoring, impact evaluation, and structured program documentation. We offer three core areas of support to organizations involved in socio-economic development: social impact management, communication for development (Com4Dev), and capacity development for implementation and management staff.

About The Role

We are seeking motivated, adaptable, and solution-oriented Field Executives to lead and oversee data collection for our assessment projects. This role forms the backbone of field operations, ensuring smooth execution and supporting project goals. Responsibilities include implementing research protocols and managing nationwide data collection for social impact consulting projects across India with precision and commitment.

Resposibilities

Planning and Coordination (40%) 


  • Collaborate with project managers to plan project goals, timelines, and data collection requirements 

  • Create partnerships with institutes, universities and network with independent field researchers across India 

  • Onboard and manage data enumerators in accordance with project needs and timelines 

  • Develop and execute detailed plans for primary data collection, considering project objectives and deadlines 

  • Coordinate with project teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with research protocols 


Data Collection Process (40%) 


  • Monitor field activities to ensure that protocols are adhered to and provide continuous support to field staff 

  • Organize and compile data in a systematic and accessible manner 

  • Conduct surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with community members 

  • Ensure adherence to research protocols and ethical guidelines 

  • Utilize data collection applications like KoBo Toolbox, mWater, SurveyCTO for efficient data capture 

  • Maintain data quality standards and implement quality assurance measures  


Field Operations Management (20%) 


  • Establish and maintain clear communication channels with field staff, project managers, and stakeholders 

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor data collection processes, verify data quality, and resolve challenges 

  • Provide feedback and support to enumerators to ensure efficient and accurate data collection 

  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, local organizations, and stakeholders 

  • Facilitate community meetings and stakeholder consultations 

  • Manage field logistics, travel arrangements, and operational requirements 

  • Compile comprehensive field reports and documentation

Qualification
  • Required 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, or related field 

  2. Minimum 2+ years of experience in field coordination, data collection, or related roles 

  3. Preferable experience in primary data collection and usage of applications like Kobo Toolbox, mWater, SurveyCTO 

  4. Strong project management and coordination skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines 

  5. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities 

  6. Strong attention to detail, ensuring data is accurately collected and organized 

  7. Willingness and ability to travel extensively across India for project locations 

  8. Proficiency in English for reporting and documentation • Proficient in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, and mobile applications • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Preferred

  1. Master's degree in relevant field 

  2. Experience working in social sector, NGOs, or impact consulting firms 

  3. Understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies 

  4. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation mechanisms 

  5. Solution-Oriented Mindset: Ability to approach challenges with positive, can-do attitude and find practical solutions 

  6. Comfortable with Ambiguity: Proven ability to remain effective in uncertain or changing environments 

  7. Crisis Management Enthusiast: Eagerness to work in high-pressure situations and manage crises efficiently 

  8. People Management: Natural leadership skills with ability to manage and motivate diverse field teams

  • Work Arrangement 

  1. Remote Position with extensive field travel across India 

  2. Home-based with regular travel to project locations nationwide 

  3. Expected travel: 10-20 days per month across various states in India 

  4. Flexible working arrangements to accommodate rigorous field schedules

Recruitment Process

1. Shortlisted CVs receive an online form and language assessment
2. After completing the form, candidates are invited for a virtual interview (30-45 minutes)
3. Selected candidates participate in a field simulation exercise (virtual/in-person)
4. Final candidates may be invited for a brief field visit assessment
5. Successful candidates receive offer letters within 7-10 days
