Social Return on Investment Study (SROI) of education initiatives

The study was initiated to understand stakeholder perception of programs and involve them in the planning of future programs. It helped get a better insight into the areas of concern and improvement, thereby making changes to ensure Adani Foundation’s (AF) mission of inclusive and sustainable societies. With the SROI study, AF was able to understand that infrastructure development was more valued than training or programmatic support. Respondents were able to provide the research team with perspectives on material value like how much the program helped them save or derive value.

Research Tools

01. Participatory tools (dotmocracy, card sorting, visual aids)

02. Contingency Valuation

Approach

The study involved stakeholders like parents, teachers, and students to understand how education support (infrastructure development, teacher training, learning programs, health awareness, etc.) provided by AF under its CSR, impacted them. Recognising factors like attribution (discounting contributions of Government programs, other NGOs, etc.), more realistic impact could be ascertained. Concepts of deadweight and drop-off helped to not over-claim. The results were shared with stakeholders and discussed to verify results and make necessary programmatic course corrections.
